Abstract: This independent research aimed to compare problem-solving thinking ability after studying by using engineering design process in physics course of grade 9 students with the specified criteria, and to compare concepts in physics before and after studying by using the engineering design process of grade 9 students. Sample used in the study were 41 grade 9 students in the second semester of the academic year 2021. They were choosen by cluster sampling. The research tools used in the study consisted of 7 plans for learning provision using the engineering design process, problem-solving ability test, and concepts test in physics. Data was analyzed by averages, standard deviations, percentages, and t-test. The results showed that 1. The ability of students’ problem-solving thinking after studying by engineering design process was 78.60 percent, which was higher than the 60 percent threshold with statistically significant at .05 suggesting a good level. 2. After using engineering design process, the students’ concepts in physics was higher than before studying with statistically significant at .05.
