Abstract: Late preterm infants (LPTs) are at risk for more health problems than full-term infants. They require good nutrition for growth, and breast milk contains valuable nutrients. The population of LPTs is increasing globally while exclusive breastfeeding rates decrease. However, limited studies have been conducted to explore exclusive breastfeeding experiences among first-time mothers of LPTs. The objectives of this study were to explore the experiences and management of exclusive breastfeeding among mothers of LPTs. A grounded theory study design was used. Seventeen mothers were recruited from a university hospital in Chiang Mai Province, Thailand. Data were collected by in-depth interviews with an interview guideline. Data collection and analysis were performed simultaneously. The data were analyzed using the constant comparative method for major emergent categories.
