Abstract: The objective of this research is to study the characteristics of attachment of adoptive families towards their children. This is a qualitative research study using a case study approach. Data was collected through in-depth interviews with four adoptive families who were selected based on criteria from the Wiang Ping Children's Home in Chiang Mai, Thailand, from June 1 to November 30, 2022. The collected data from the interviews was analyzed and interpreted. The findings revealed that the characteristics of attachment of adoptive families towards their children consisted of 1) the parental investment cost towards their adopted children, which came from their good intentions, empathy, understanding towards the child's psyche who came from the children's home, as well as the family's love for children, which served as the original capital, 2) the attachment of adoptive families towards their children that arises from daily routines and parental duties, and 3) this attachment is understood to eventually separate from the good intentions, love, and concern that were give.
