Abstract: The purposes of this research were (1) to investigate the relationships among organizational identification, organizational citizenship behavior, and proactive work behavior of police officers in upper northern area; and (2) to examine the mediating role of proactive work behavior in the relationship between organizational identification and organizational citizenship behavior of police officers in upper northern area. The sample of this study was 377 police officers working in upper northern region (i.e., Chiang Mai, Lampang, Lamphun, Phrae, Nan, Phayao, Chiang Rai and Mae Hong Son). The research instruments consisted of (1) the organizational identification scale, (2) the organizational citizenship behavior scale, (3) the proactive work behavior scale, and (4) the personal data questionnaire. Data were analyzed by using descriptive statistics, Pearson's correlation coefficient, and mediation analysis using bootstrap method with Process Macro (Model 4). The results of the study were as follows: 1. Organizational identification positively influenced proactive work behavior of police officers in upper northern area. (B= .63, p < .01); hypothesis 1, therefore, was supported. 2. Proactive work behavior positively influenced organizational citizenship behavior of police officers in upper northern area. (B= .42, p < .01); hypothesis 2, therefore, was supported. 3. Organizational identification positively influenced organizational citizenship behavior of police officers in upper northern area. (B= .40, p < .01); hypothesis 3, therefore, was supported. 4. The relationship between organizational identification and organizational citizenship behavior was partially mediated by proactive work behavior of police officers in upper northern area. (B=.26, SE = .04); hypothesis 4, therefore, was supported.
