Abstract

Software project management is an administrative process which aims to produce effective software, meet the needs of users, and complete the scope of work within the time limit. Unfortunately, software project management courses in most educational institutions have limited teaching materials and traditional media does not interact with students’ efficiency. This independent study presents PDCA Sim, a simulation game on software development based on PDCA concept. The purpose is to give opportunities to students to learn how to manage software under the concept of PDCA. In addition, it emphasizes the importance of planning, doing, checking, and remediation of problem areas in software development in the way that students can enjoy learning. According to the test results, after participating in PDCA Sim, volunteers show a better understanding of PDCA management, including a better awareness of the importance of planning, the doing part, checking part and remediation of problem areas.
