Abstract: Different laundry behaviors can affect different environment impacts. This study aims to assess the environmental impacts and direct costs from a consumer viewpoint by comparing between home washing machine and laundromat washing machine. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) is used in this study by ReCiPe 2016 midpoint (H) method. The results are divided into 4 parts. First part shows LCI data. Second part is the global warming impact, this part shows the home washing machine causes less than laundromat washing machine. The most impact part of the home washing machine is detergent (60.10% of total processes) while the laundromat washing machine is electricity (50.09% of total processes). Third part is mineral resource scarcity. Home washing machine causes more than laundromat washing machine. The most impact of this part is detergent for both cases (72.46% and 80.59% of total processes respectively). Fourth part is direct costs from the consumer viewpoint. Home washing machine’s cost is more than laundromat washing machine’s cost. In costs assessment, home washing machine’s most spending part is detergent while the laundromat’s most spending part is a service charge.
