Abstract: Air pollution is one of the major problems in northern part of Thailand and neighboring countries especially in the dry season due to widespread of forest fires and open burning of agricultural waste. The main objective of this research is to utilize residue materials by means of slow carbonization and carbon dioxide post treatment processes to increase physical properties aiming to adsorb Hydrogen Sulfide (H2S) in biogas generated from organic waste. Materials focused in this study include Carbonized com cob (C), Carbonized corn cob with CO, treatment (CA), Carbonized Coconut Shell (CO), Carbonized Coconut Shell with CO, treatment (COA), Carbonized Woodchips (B) and Carbonized Woodchips with CO, treatment (BA). All products are set to compare H,S adsorption ability with Activated carbon (AC) in a continuous reactor with H.S loading of 4,3 18.48 gH2S / m3h. The result confirms that AC has the highest efficiency followed by CO, B, COA, C, BA and CA with adsorption capacity of 58.80, 2.33, 1.58, 3.66, 1.84, 5.56 and 1.26 gH2S/gAdsorbent, respectively. According to results of the experiment, the carbonized woodchips had the highest hydrogen sulfide absorption capacity. Additional works in this study includes estimation for small scale livestock biogas system which shows possibility to apply carbonized local residues as commercial activated carbon substitute. However, further works are required in optimizing the process economy of scale and financial feasibility in actual applications.
