Abstract: Objective: To study mechanical properties of zirconia after bonded with flowable resin composite using resin cement containing different functional monomers. Material and method: A sintered YTZP zirconia blank was cut into 60 cubic blocks size 7x7 x1mm then embedded in cylindrical tube with epoxy resin. All specimens were soaked in artificial saliva for 3 minutes then cleaned and dried. A total of 36 resin composite rods were fabricated in size of 3mm diameter and 3mm height. Specimens were divided into 5 groups; Group1: Directly bonded with flowable resin composite (control), Group2: Sandblasted with 50-micron aluminum oxide particle at 2.0 bar pressure from 10 cm distance for 20 seconds then directly bonded with resin composite, Group3: Sandblasted then bonded with composite rod using Panavia F2.0, Group4: Sandblasted then bonded with composite rod using Clearfil ceramic primer and Panavia F2.0, Group5: Sandblasted then bonded with composite rod using Superbond C&B. All specimens were tested for shear bond strength using universal testing machine with a crosshead-speed of 1.0 mm/min. All data were statistically analyzed using One-way ANOVA and Tukey's HSD test. Mode of failure was identified using stereomicroscope at 20x magnification. Results: Group5 had the highest mean shear bond strength but was not significantly different with Group3 and Group4 (p>0.05) while Groupland2 had no significant difference on mean shear bond strength. (p>0.05) Conclusion: Different functional monomers in resin cement had no effect on shear bond strength between zirconia and resin composite.
