Abstract

At present, Thai students have experienced crisis regarding education policy, and this can result in their similar opinions towards this phenomenon. This qualitative research aims to analyze goals and motivations which lead to the students' opinions towards Thai education policy. The data were collected from an interview. Samples in this study consist of students who expressed their opinions towards the Thai education policy and education personnel in the Education Service Area in Chiang Mai. The study shows that the students demand a change from the traditional education policy to the policy that fits their present-day contexts and social demands. The motivations of their opinions arise from online social platforms, together with friends on social media and friends in their real life. Ways of express opinions include commenting in social media, holding demonstrations, and employing symbolic gestures within and outside schools. This contributes to a set of policies from the Ministry of Education focusing on public hearing and consultation. Still, the goals mentioned above have not met the students' expectations.
