Abstract: Influenza type A H1N1 infection among health care workers is a health problem, that can be prevented by the influenza vaccine. This study aimed to determine predicting factors related to perceived susceptibility, perceived severity, perceived benefits, perceived barriers, personal factors, cues to action, and receipt of the influenza type AH1N1 vaccine in 1,038 health care workers in hospitals operated under the Ministry of Public Health during December 2012 to May 2013. The predicting factors of receiving influenza type A H1N1 vaccine questionnaire was developed by the researcher. The content validity of the questionnaire was confirmed by the panel of experts and its index was 0.86. The reliability value of the questionnaire was 0.82. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics and multiple logistic regression. The results showed that four variables independently predicted receipt of the influenza type A H1N1 vaccine: history of previous influenza seasonal vaccination (OR=16.22,95%CI=10.22-25.75, p=0.00), perceived benefits (OR=1.04, 95%CI=1.00-1.06, p=0.01), perceived barriers (OR=0.97, 95%CI=0.95-0.98, p=0.00), and cues to action (OR=1.05, 95%CI=1.02-1.09, p=0.00). The results of this study can be used as background data to promote the influenza type A H1N1 vaccine among health care workers.
