Abstract: The purpose of this research is to study the cultural context of tattooing and Lanna tattoo designs by synthesizing the knowledge gained from studying the culture of tattooing and Lanna tattoo designs to be used as inspiration for creating works to preserve wisdom and reflect cultural identity. It is characterized as creative art research by studying documents, concepts, theories, research, and related works of art in the context of the history, elements, styles, concepts, beliefs, and artistic symbols of Lanna tattoo designs in the upper northern region of Thailand. The research area is Chiang Mai Province and Lamphun Province in order to analyze, process, and define it into concepts using Mixed Media Art techniques to create Contemporary Art, presented in the form of depiction and works of art. The results of the research found that 1) Tattooing and Lanna tattoo are unique in that they show the strength of a man, symbolizing the transition from a boy to a full man, reflecting the values in choosing a partner from the tattoo designs of Lanna women in the past. There are methods of symbolic expression in ways that are tangible, such as patterns, and intangible, such as motto and beliefs. 2) The researcher created Mixed Media Art from a synthesis of Lanna tattoo designs in groups of animal patterns, natural patterns, and geometric patterns to restore the spirit of tattoo designs by creating a new life space for the patterns in contemporary works, it is a new dimension of synthesis of traditional tattoo beliefs into contemporary art and design through the experience of the viewers, allowing viewers to participate in cultural learning and experience the beauty of tattoo designs in the form of tangible three-dimensional works that reflect the uniqueness and masculinity of the Lanna people. This art creation resulted in learning and furthering knowledge of Lanna tattoo art and culture for society and the new generation of youth.
