Abstract: The purposes of this research were 1) to study the effectiveness of a competency-based language teaching Lesson plan with audiobooks, 2) to study English competency for communication in the Thai massage profession of visually impaired students after learning using competency-based language teaching and 3) to study the satisfaction of visually impaired students with the competency-based language teaching. The research was a paired sample test analysis comparing English communication competencies before and after competency-based language studies. Target group was Mathayomsuksa 1-3 students at the Northern School for the Blind under the Royal Patronage of Her Majesty the Queen, Chiang Mai Province who enrolled in the vocational project course (Thai massage) in semester 1 of academic year 2023. The instruments used in this research were 1) 5 lesson plans of competency-based language teaching, 4 periods per plan and each session was 50 minutes, totaling 20 lessons. 2) Audio book 3)Assessment form of communication competencies in listening and speaking English for communication in the Thai massage profession. 4) Questionnaire on satisfaction with competency-based language teaching activities. The statistics used for data analysis were percentage and standard deviation. The results of this research were as follows: 1. the efficiency index of competency-based language teaching activities with audiobooks was 87.38/83.33, which was higher than the criterion of 80/80 2. the English competency for communication in the Thai massage profession of visually impaired students post – test achievement was higher than that of the pre – test at the .05 level of statistical significance 3. the students’ overall satisfaction with learning by using competency-based language teaching was found at the high level at the average of 4.49
