Abstract: The execution of the dissertation has created the installation artwork “Lonely Souls in Digital Isolation and Stray” which explores the emergence and causes of the phenomenon of loneliness in the information age, focusing on young people living in the city as a starting point. The work constructs a visually striking visual space scene with LED light strips, acrylic panels, and laser spotlights. The red-light strips symbolizing the pressure of urban life and the blue square representing the internet highlight the lack of real communication and emotional exchange in modern society and how digital devices have severed the ties between people. To ensure a successful installation, it is crucial to approach the topic of artwork in the following manner: 1) the pressure and loneliness of urban life; 2) the information overload and alienation of interpersonal relationships in the digital age; 3) the unique value of new media installation art in reflecting social phenomena; 4) the thoughts and criticisms expressed by the artists in their works; 5) the audience's feedbacks on the works and their suggestions for improvement, as well as how the artists incorporate these feedbacks into their creations to make the works and how artists can incorporate these feedbacks into creations to make the works more in-depth and expressive. The installation art reveals the problem of loneliness faced by young people in the bustling city, as well as the impact of the digital age on human social behavior, calling on society to pay attention to this phenomenon and explore practical ways to alleviate the sense of loneliness and promote the development of healthy interpersonal relationships. The exhibition offers a one-of-a-kind opportunity for the audience to engage with technology-driven works of art. These works have a unique quality that immerses the audience in a world of mystery and even fear while showcasing technology's beauty. Through this exhibit, the artists critique the surreal state of technology and invite visitors to contemplate the current conditions of life, which have become increasingly reliant on technology.
