Abstract: The objective of this research was to study the factors affecting traveling behavior of Chiang Mai visitors before and during COVID-19 outbreak and factors affecting transportation choices of Chiang Mai visitors during the COVID-19 situation with descriptive and inferential research. There are four steps involved in this study including creating questionnaires and analysis tools, data collection, research conduction and summarize the results of the study. The study population consisted of 400 visitors to Chiang Mai. The data were collected between May to September 2022. The data were analyzed using percentage, mean and standard deviation statistics and the use of the Logit model. The study indicated that the majority of travelers were female with an average age of 23 years. In the time before COVID-19 outbreak, the more educated, more offspring or those who were students may have fewer opportunities to travel by personal car while during the COVID-19, Visitors who have a home in Chiang Mai travel with family and travel during weekends are more likely to travel by private car than people who travel for vacation, work or study and traveling alone. As for the factors affecting the transportation choices during the COVID-19 outbreak, if the traveler is a local single/widowed/divorced with a planned trip, there will be less likely to change travel routes but if travelers arrive during weekends, there will be more opportunities to modify. The recommendations should be evaluated and studied in other tourist destinations in Thailand affected by COVID-19 or other diseases that may have a similar effect, such as Legionnaires' disease or new emerging diseases that may occur in the future to formulate public health policies that fit the context of travelers, including safety from COVID-19.
