Abstract: The midblock pedestrian crossing is the conflict between pedestrians and vehicles that creates frequent traffic jams and does not support the elderly and disabled. Also, the installation selection design criteria cannot adequately control and manage the traffic efficiency of vehicles and pedestrians. So, the researcher is interested in studying and evaluating operational performances. The purposes of the study are knowing the crossing control patterns that are consistent with number of lanes and suitable for the volume of users, and is appropriate in various traffic conditions, viable control strategy that balances the mobility of the vehicle and pedestrian flow in various traffic volume in Chiang Mai and can compare the use of the crosswalk model in future scenarios based on evaluating the travel efficiency of pedestrians and vehicles through the development of pedestrian traffic models of midblock pedestrian crossing by the PTV Vissim and PTV Viswalk program. Microscopic traffic simulation development from physical data, traffic data, and behavioral data were collected from the field during the peak and off-peak hours also traffic experts' advice, in a comparative analysis of the performance of three crossing control patterns, including Zebra crossing, Fixed time signal crossing, and Intelligent pedestrian crossing. Propose crossing patterns suitable for different areas and traffic conditions as measured by the traffic efficiency of vehicle travel delay, pedestrian travel delays, and the number of stops. The study results found that Zebra crossing is the most effective in low traffic condition. The intelligent pedestrian crossing is effective for a wide range of traffic volumes, and Fixed time signal crossing is more effective in higher traffic and pedestrian traffic condition. Next, development of the midblock pedestrian crossing suggestion criterion with relative weights (α) of 0.1 - 0.9 with an interval of 0.2 increments. Then apply the recommendation criteria to suggest crosswalks in the urban area of Chiang Mai to be more suitable for use. The researcher then applied this crossing control signals model to a practical crossing by choosing the crossing path in the study area as a crossing with a Fixed time signal crossing on Suthep Road in the urban area (4-lane road, no median). It is at the main entrance of Maharaj Nakorn Chiang Mai Hospital. After that, evaluate the crosswalk efficiency, both off-peak and peak hours. The study results found that crosswalk crossings had fewer vehicle delays than the others in peak hours (31.47 percent down from the current active key-pressure crossing). However, intelligent light crossings had more minor vehicle delays than the others in peak-hour modes. In addition, intelligent light crossings had fewer pedestrian delays than others, both outside off-peak hours and during peak hours. Moreover, it was observed that the efficiency evaluation results were consistent with the results from the pedestrian traffic models. Moreover, in the next ten years, assuming a vehicle growth rate of 2.96 percent and a pedestrian growth rate of 1.31 percent, Intelligent pedestrian crossing has higher traffic efficiency than the Fixed time signal crossing, which is currently in use.
