Abstract: Nowadays, Nan has become one of the tourist provinces that raise more popularity than in the past; therefore, there are several improvements and the expansion of urbanization. Accordingly, the development plan for the specific area, Phu Phiang, is the initial area to support tourism and develop local people's quality. It is located at Nong Nam Krok, which was formally used to prevent a flood of Phu Phiang district, Nan province. Concrete pathways and constructions will replace this area. Consequently, if the high rainfall affects the decreasing water intake quality, the site will become a flooding area or an unavoidable runoff. To be balanced the development; therefore, the objective of this research was to study the method to improve the efficiency of the runoffs per construction cost for the development in the specific area, Mueang Phu Phiang, Ban Muang Tuet, Nan Province. The method of studying has integrated the knowledge between engineering and architecture. The concept of Water Sensitive Urban Design (WSUD) or Low Impact Development (LID) and the method of Best Management Practices (BMPs) have been used as a model for designing dedicated to store, control and drain surface water. The design of the physical state of soil and the selection of efficient absorb materials can increase runoffs per reasonable construction cost. The result of the study revealed that when determining the depth of the 2 inches gravel layer, the efficiency of the cost price runoff was equal to -1.11 inch per million baht, which is the reasonable and cheapest cost price for the runoff. Therefore, it is an alternative method to prevent and mitigate the flooding problem for the area's development to be effective for the excellent and sustainable runoff.
