Abstract: This study aims to investigate efficiency of submerged ultrafiltration (UF) membrane on dissolved organic matter and disinfection by-products removals from surface water. The results showed high removal of large-size pollutants including turbidity (>80%) and total suspended solid (TSS) (>99%). Nevertheless, the system showed low removal of small-size pollutants, i.e. total dissolved solid (TDS). In case of dissolved organic carbon (DOC), it was removed by more than 40%. However, from the obtained results of trihalomethanes (THMs), it could not be concluded that the submerged UF membrane had successfully reduced the amount of DBPs in the surface water.
