The novel host record of Phytophthora palmivora on Rhynchostylis gigantea is reported herein. Phytophthora palmivora causes brown to black water-soaked lesions on leaves, and roots. The taxonomic and phylogenetic placement of P. palmivora was confirmed through morphology and multigene phylogeny. Further, the pathogenicity of Phytophthora palmivora on Rhynchostylis gigantea was proven.en_US
