dc.description.abstractBolete diversity was studied in Chiang Mai Province, Thailand at two community forests (June – July 2014 and 2016) and at Doi Suthep-Pui National Park (May – November 2005 and 2006). Ninety-two collections were made comprising 62 taxa in the families Boletaceae, Boletinellaceae, Gyroporaceae and Suillaceae. Two small boletes, Parvixerocomus pseudoaokii and Xerocomus nigromaculatus and two wild edible mushroom, Chiua viridula and Neoboletus obscureumbrinus are new records for Thailand. Four specimens were representative of potential new species and belonged to the genera Boletus, Heimioporus and Tylopilus. In addition a well-known edible species, Phlebopus spongiosus, is also discussed. Phylogenetic reconstructions of some selected taxa were conducted using sequences of nrLSU and ITS (14 specimens each) representing eight species of Boletaceae and one Boletinellaceae. Phylogenetic data were strongly correlated with morphological data and were useful to aid in delimiting genera and species, particularly those of the rare or edible taxa.en_US
