Abstract: This research aims to design the proper function of a real Microgrid project site and study the Critical Latency of Control Command between Microgrid Controller and local controller. The Microgrid project site is consisted of hydropower plant, photovoltaic system (PV), battery energy storage system (BESS), Diesel generator (DG) and the main grid. The main objective is to study the critical latency of control command between Microgrid controller and local controller. All actual data profiles are collected from a real Microgrid site. The Microgrid model include BESS, PV generation, hydropower plant, diesel generator and load consumption. The simulation results and experimental results have shown that how the communication time delay between Microgrid controller and local controller influence to each function of Microgrid control system and define which one is the critical latency. Thus, Microgrid concept claims to provide clean, reliable, efficient, and flexible source of energy by use of renewable sources. The system is simulate an existing hydro, PV system, diesel generator with battery energy storage system (BESS) operation, and optimization by Digsilent software to comparison with the experimental result.
