Abstract: Development a method to produce ion beam focused by tapered glass capillary microbeam 142 μm diameters using the system was home-developed tandem accelerator at Chiang Mai University. In this study aims to develop focusing tapered glass capillary system measured by particle induced X-ray emission (PIXE) technique. This method is its high sensitivity and non-destructive. Application in PIXE mapping for elemental concentration distributions using ion beam focused by tapered glass capillary scanned in PIXE mapping on the wire mesh. The capillary ion-microbeam was applied in K and Mn elemental concentration distribution mapping of Potassium permanganate (KMnO4).In the sample preparation, was dropped and stored on filter paper using diffusion and paper chromatography. The results found that, ion beam focused by tapered glass capillary microbeam (Micro-PIXE) can preliminary application of the facility was conducted for elemental concentration distribution microbeam PIXE mapping of wire mesh and Potassium permanganate (KMnO4) dropped and stored on filter paper using diffusion the mapping of the K and Mn elemental concentration from an area of high concentration to an area of low concentration and concentration distributions different part using paper chromatography.
