Abstract: The aim of this independent study was to study child nurturing methods of children with Autism and how such methods affected their development. The target group, obtained by purposed sampling, were two families with children with autism who attended the service Special Education Department of Rajanagarindra Institute of Child Development, Chiang Mai. Instruments used in the study were retrospection record form, In-depth interview, participant and non-participant observation, content analysis and description in the interpretation and conclusion. The result of the study was that to foster child development, children with autism were nurtured in two stages: First, the pre-diagnosis stage which involved child development observation, meeting with relevant experts, and by parents search for more information. Second was the post- diagnosis stage where the four following aspects were crucial to the case studies’ development: 1) Physical Development Enhancement which involved dietary changes and frequent meetings with physicians. 2) Emotional and Social Development Enhancement which involved self-observation and solution seeking and avoidance, frequent meetings with psychologists, facilitating interaction opportunities and leading by examples. 3) Linguistic Skills Development Enhancement which involved frequent meetings with speech therapists and consistently following their suggestions. 4) Thought and Intelligence Development Enhancement which involved child enrollment in accordance with individual intelligence, frequent meetings with special education teachers and provision of learning materials for the case studies.
