Abstract: The purposes of this experimental research were (1) to develop Thai verse chanting ability for Mathayom Suksa 3 students and (2) to compare the pre-test and post-test achievement of Thai verse chanting ability by using prose technique. The sample was 36 students from Mathayom Suksa 3 class 1 at, Hong Son Suksa School, Mae Hong Son. The sample group was selected by sample random sampling. The instruments used in this research were five lesson plans of prose technique for fifteen periods, five exercises of prose technique, five the assessment forms for the exercise, and Thai verse chanting assessment form. The data were statistically analyzed by t-test. The findings of the research indicated that the students’ Thai verse chanting ability had increased at good level after using prose technique. Also, the posttest grade result in Thai verse chanting ability had increased in reading performance after using prose technique while level statically significant at .05. In conclusion, the prose technique can progressively improve students’ ability in Thai verse chanting.
