Abstract: This research proposes a solution to address environmental and safety challenges along the access route to Khao San Road, using Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED). High crime rates and a deteriorating environment have raised security concerns. Four study routes from Khao San Road to nearby bus stops were selected due to similar problems. The study employed a modified CPTED area assessment form developed by the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) in Singapore, adapted to the study path's context. Empirical evidence, including photographs, supported the evaluation of the study area. The assessment covered six key factors: 1) Sight lines and lighting, 2) Isolated routes and Entrapment areas, 3) Ownership maintenance and management, 4) Activity, 5) Signage, information, and help centers, and 6) The overall environment. Simulated designs aligned with CPTED were presented to address the identified problems across the four routes. The proposed solutions encompass: 1) Enhancing natural surveillance, 2) Installing Road signs and information boards, 3) Implementing CCTV systems for increased visibility, 4) Introducing warning signs and public emergency telephones, 5) Improving lighting infrastructure, 6) Incorporating art installations for increased activity, 7) Prioritizing regular maintenance, 8) Displaying warning signs indicating CCTV operation, and 9) Introducing non-obstructive aesthetic elements. By adhering to CPTED principles and addressing these challenges, the proposed solutions aim to create a safer, more inviting, and sustainable environment along Khao San Road's access route. This study's findings and recommendations can guide urban planners, policymakers, and community stakeholders in enhancing safety and security while fostering a thriving urban space.2023-07-01T00:00:00Zการออกแบบเพื่อพัฒนาพื้นที่ว่างใต้ทางยกระดับแยกดอนจั่นจังหวัดเชียงใหม่อดิเทพ พัฒนศุภสุนทรhttp://cmuir.cmu.ac.th/jspui/handle/6653943832/692562020-08-03T07:38:21Z2016-04-01T00:00:00ZTitle: การออกแบบเพื่อพัฒนาพื้นที่ว่างใต้ทางยกระดับแยกดอนจั่นจังหวัดเชียงใหม่

Abstract: The purpose of the independent study is to look for a suitable way of architecture design for the lost-space area under Don Chan overpass, which can meet demand and value of surrounded community areas in order to support the public-space utility. The sample of the main users were chosen around Don Chan. There are two methodologies in this study:
1. Data analyzing and synthesizing: Data analyzing consists of two collecting parts; the data of site observation and data from literature review, which would be brought together to explain the phenomena that happens in community. Then these information would be analyzed and synthesized to find out the community relation and requirement that would lead to design requirement for the design process of the lost space at the intersection area below Don Chan's elevated road, Chiang Mai.
It is found from site observation and literature review that this lost space occurred from the city and transportation development, and it effects the context around Don Chan intersection area. This causes the problems of community environment both of the community separation and the restriction of population growth.
2. Architectural design: The architectural design was determined by a scope of research summary from the previous synthesis data, this process consist of two main design concepts follow as 1.) The
potential development of lost space, 2.) The reconnection of local people and community, which develop from the idea of the analysis of daily urban life through walking behavior by Michel de Certeau. This idea of walking would motivate to the reconnection between the separated areas and places, and to create various activities in design.
In the detail of architecture design, the idea of sense of place in people and the community by Pajare Prasert will be used to build the value for this area. This study chose Lanna lantern which is a local sign of the community to use in design process. This might lead to community identity and create sense of belonging to local people.2016-04-01T00:00:00Zแนวทางการออกแบบปรับปรุงที่จอดรถและระบบรถสาธารณะส่วนการศึกษาหลักมหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่อณิชา กระจ่างแจ่มhttp://cmuir.cmu.ac.th/jspui/handle/6653943832/689952020-07-21T06:06:36Z2015-05-01T00:00:00ZTitle: แนวทางการออกแบบปรับปรุงที่จอดรถและระบบรถสาธารณะส่วนการศึกษาหลักมหาวิทยาลัยเชียงใหม่

Abstract: This independent study is the study and research to find the way for improve the parking design and public transportation systems for user in the Chiang Mai University. Thus, with a focus on data collection process and take into consideration to user group in Chiang Mai University. Research process has divided into 3 parts: that is
1. The fieldwork data collected data from interviews, this research bases on random sample of 30 peoples. The questions are within the scope of the research, which consist of time to take in journey, conveniences factor, expenses factor. The fieldwork data collection can be divided into 2 sub categories, parking system and public transportation system and because of this investigation is using the interview method with open-ended question, many factors will be added after the interview.
2. The fieldwork research processes done by the Multi-Criteria Decision Analysis: MCDA methods applied in an overlay with traffic plan to determine the traffic density in the area to designated for parking. In this process, the data will consist of a plan that show the blank area in the University, the volume of vehicles that drive through each of the way, the volume of vehicles that drive through the cross, and the number of vehicles that obstructing traffic.
3. By combining item 1 and 2, the result will be more accurate and can be use for analysis and synthesis together. Then, the result will carry out to the parking and public transportation routes design phase. For the design phase, researcher has used software that help simulates the routes by applied the analyzed data with the traffic data within the university. This process is operate under the scope of the research, which is the duration of journey through the main point in the University will be relative to the parking point for existing in University too.
The results of the study showed that the entire task in transportation and traffic has associated with each other. Thus, the solution of traffic problem in Chiang Mai University needs to solve in a systematic way. The solution cannot manage in just one part only, but need to modify and improve simultaneously through the system. These solutions should include the parking design, public transport routes design and pedestrian pavement design2015-05-01T00:00:00Zการใช้พื้นที่สาธารณะในเมืองเชียงใหม่ กรณีกาดเช้าเกษตรชุมชนปลอดสารพิษ ถนน 2 เชียงรายกาญจนาถ ทองชัยประสิทธิ์http://cmuir.cmu.ac.th/jspui/handle/6653943832/629932018-12-25T03:11:42Z2557-12-01T00:00:00ZTitle: การใช้พื้นที่สาธารณะในเมืองเชียงใหม่ กรณีกาดเช้าเกษตรชุมชนปลอดสารพิษ ถนน 2 เชียงราย

Abstract: This independent study is the study of public space in a present day, which raises the question about the meaning and function of public space. The purpose of this study is 1. to categorize and analyze the concepts of public space 2. to analyze and critique the meaning and using public spaces in Muang Chiang Mai. 3. to provide guidelines for designing public space based on the notion of Space of Tactics. Using Chang Kian Market as the case study, the researcher argues for a new form of public space situated by the relationship between the people and the area on a daily basis. In order to avoid the confrontation with the public and local authorities, tactic practices are normally used in public space in Thailand. Chiang Kien Market is regarded as a conceptual model in order to decode some of the specific tactic to use for an experimental design. Partially this study explores Chiang Kien Market to find a way of how to design public space applying to the Case of Safety Agriculture Community Morning Market Thanon 2 Chiang Rai. The public areas are as vibrant and according to everyday life conditions.
Part of this research is an experimental design by using guidelines base on 4 items. There are access and visibility, talking space, environment and human scale that can be summarized into three main factors. 1. The dimension of time to comply with the activities. 2. Creating a space related to the context of both vertical and horizontal, including the level of the roof that depends on the activity or the proportion of users, product display and placement. The degree of alignment of vision and relationships horizontally like a boundary. To facilitate the use of natural boundaries, such as the shade of a tree or a building. 3. To consider about the cultural dimension of this space such as the people in relation to the community, ownership, and a natural setting. The completed guideline will be fosters the development of new ideas to applied in designing urban solutions.
In conclusion, the researcher found that the guidelines for the design of public space could be done. The experiment found that the public space design base on the concept of tactic space is to apply using public space by questioning the rules and conditions of the area (Tactical area). The researcher found that if the tactics happen at the right place right time. It could offer the place to be publicized and eventually become a successful public space.2557-12-01T00:00:00Z
